How to Do Queer History

“How to Do Queer History” is a skill-building series designed to empower participants to uncover, document, and share LGBTQIA2S+ history. We focus on learning the creative tools historians use to engage with oral histories, community archives, and public history. Students will gain the confidence and tools to pursue their own queer history projects.

“Making Queer History” is a more intensive version of “How to Do Queer History” for anyone interested in fully immersing themselves in a project focused on queer/trans history over the course of three months. The first three sessions are focused on learning specific public history skills, including oral history, arts, and mapping. Then, you’ll develop, design, and present an independent project unique to your interests. By the end of the course, students will have a meaningful project with support from their peers and the instructor to have its impact be long-lasting and sustainable.
